Hosokawa Ryudo Hosokawa. Founding chief priest of Otaru Shogyoji Temple. Born in 1909 (Meiji 42) in Ozawa Village (currently Kyowa Town, Iwanai District, Hokkaido). Born as the third son of a farmer. She used to teach as an elementary school teacher, but was forced to retire due to illness. Afterwards, he became a monk of the Jodo Shinshu Honganji sect. Engaged in legal affairs as a priest at Otaru Betsuin. Afterwards, he opened a preaching station in Shioya. In 1948 (Showa 23), Otaru Shogyoji Temple was built in the current Nagahashi area. Ryudōshi's missionary activities were unique in that they used a projector, which was rare at the time. For this reason, some followers and monks called him ``Hosokawa the Projector''. His image of him carrying a projector and enthusiastically proselytizing is still talked about today. The current Otaru Shogyoji Temple was rebuilt in 1983 by the second chief priest, Reverend Shoichi Sato.
